The small businesses answer to our letigious society

It seems like every other day I hear on the news about someone suing someone else for their own stupidity. This is getting ridiculous! Because of these individuals, premiums on insurance policies continue to rise as everyone scrambles to make their "easy buck." For those small businesses out there, I thought I would introduce you to NOLO.
NOLO's mission is, "since 1971, our goal has been simple: Make America’s legal system
accessible to everyone. In keeping with that goal, NOLO offers different levels of help to fit different consumers’ needs." NOLO provides legal solutions for you, your family and your business. Overall, it's a great resource to clarify laws, answer questions, and find out next steps should you find yourself in a "situation."
I believe that every business should be insured, several ways in fact. My State Farm agent can attest to that! When you work so hard for what you have, it is absolutely imperative that you protect what you've worked for. To do so, you have to make sure you follow certain steps along the way to set up your business properly, ensure your taxes are accurate, and that you are following the law with your business practices. And get insurance!
I think NOLO is a particularly fantastic resource for those who are thinking about starting a business in the near future. Besides having a great idea, you need to do your homework. Should you be a sole proprietor, S-Corporation, or an LLC? NOLO can point you in the right direction with practical free advice so that you are armed with the information you need to make a decision that is not only in the best interests of you, but also your company.
If you aren't starting a company, but need legal advice on other life matters such as how to make a living will, what steps are needed to proceed with a divorce, or what are your legal rights when adopting a child, NOLO is also the place for you.
Do you need to know? NOLO is in the know...
